Two (2) Teachers Interdicted For Rape

Douglas Adade, an English teacher at St. Louis Senior High School, and Mathew Asante-Darko, a Visual Arts teacher at Kumasi Girls Senior High School (SHS), have been served letters to appear before the Disciplinary Committee of the GES to answer questions on the alleged affairs on the campuses of the schools.

Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of GES, Mark Ofori, who confirmed the interdiction of the two teachers, told DAILY GUIDE that the directorate, headed by Mary Owusu Akyaw, would get to the bottom of the matter.

According to him, GES takes a serious view of allegations of sexual assault on students by teachers, adding that the Disciplinary Committee of GES had been tasked to investigate the allegations and report back to the authorities.

A final-year female student of St. Louis SHS was said to have been raped by Mr Adade on the campus of the school, leading to his arrest by police personnel from the KNUST Police Station after an official complaint was lodged.

Reports said that Mr Adade told GES officials that he paid GH¢10,000 to the victim to settle the case out of court.

Mr. Asante-Darko, who has also been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a female student, is also being investigated by police in the Ashanti Region.

The teacher was said to have used his good rapport with the parents of the victim to allegedly commit the crime.

The female student of the Kumasi Girls SHS reportedly woke up to see the teacher having sex with her.

She later reported the incident to another teacher, who confronted Mr. Asante-Darko.

The paper gathered that the victim’s parents, who were subsequently informed, reported the incident to police.
