Government says His focus is on public trained nurse not private trained one

Government has indicated that it is bonded t o ensure the posting and employment of trained nurses from the public institutions  before attending to the demands of the private trained nurses.Over 2,000 nurses and midwives trained by private institutions who have not been employed, demonstrated against government for not engaging them.
According to the public relations officer of the Health Ministry, Tony Goodman government is now keen on
employing nurses trained by the public institutions because it has an agreement with them.He noted that government is not the only employer in the health sector.  ““We [government] have trained a particular number [of nurses] in the country and we are making all efforts to employ them into the system, but we will give opportunity to those we have bonded with. For now, the clearance that we have, we are making sure we post the public ones because they are under bond,” Goodman said in an interview with the media.

On Thursday, May 5, hundreds of  the aggrieved private trained nurses who have not been posted since 2013 picketed at Flagstaff House.
